Henry Bogenrief photograph collection [graphic]. [193-?-199-?]

Consists of but a small number of Bogenrief's total photography. There is a small amount of biographical material, newspaper clippings and magazine articles about and by Mr. Bogenrief. There are two letters from friend, Ida Prokop Lee regarding his photography. The first issue of the Fargo-Moorhead Camera Club's newsletter, "Photo chatter"(Sept. 1957) is also included. The photographs have been organized topically and include images of Bonanzaville U.S.A.; downtown Fargo businesses, particularly the NSP power plant; a Fargo street car on its last run on Aug. 21, 1937; a Hawaiian church (matted); female circus performers with elephants; man sleeping on bench by Waldorf Hotel; portraits of Mr. Bogenrief; and snow scenes, especially of snow drifts. There is a framed print of his Dunvilla, Minn. winter scene (1957); and a framed print of "Wind patterns" by Burton V. Bohrer of Fargo.

Henry "Hank" Bogenrief was born in 1903 in South Dakota but raised in Fargo, N.D. He owned and operated the Waldorf Hotel Barber and Beauty Shop until it was destroyed by a 1951 fire. He served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. In 1936 he helped organize the Fargo-Moorhead Camera Club. He died in Fargo on March 22, 1997.
